What's New on the 2027 Audi Q9

At the top of Audi's SUV lineup, the Q9 introduces features new to the brand  most notably electrically powered doors on all four positions and a panoramic sunroof spanning approximately 1.5 square meters. Seating options run to either six or seven occupants, making this vehicle relevant to Winnipeg families managing everything from school runs across the Perimeter Highway to longer trips through the prairies. Detailed powertrain and trim information will be confirmed at the July 28 world premiere.

Exterior

Full exterior specifications including dimensions, ground clearance, wheel sizes, and design details are preliminary for the 2027 Audi Q9 and will be confirmed at the vehicle's world premiere on July 28, 2026. What is established: this is Audi's first vehicle in the full-size SUV class, positioning it above the brand's existing lineup in terms of scale. Roof rails with cross bars come standard with every Q9. Contact Audi Winnipeg for the latest exterior information as it becomes available following the premiere.

The standard panoramic sunroof measures approximately 1.5 square metres and opens fully for an open-air experience. An optional PDLC system using nine individually controllable Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal segments in the laminated safety glass allows the roof to be darkened in sections without a conventional sunshade. The standard glass blocks more than 99.5% of UV radiation and reflects infrared light. When the Q9 is parked, the roof transitions automatically to opaque. An available illuminated version of the sunroof uses 84 LEDs across a palette of 30 colours, coordinated with the ambient lighting selected inside the cabin a practical feature during Manitoba's long winter evenings

Interior

The Q9's interior is built around space as its central asset. Audi has expanded the material palette for this model, offering Dinamica microfibre, leather and leatherette, and Fine Nappa leather depending on the configuration. Inlay and trim options include fine grain ash natural, lime structure natural, silk beige, and carbon fibre weave with basalt grey accents. High-gloss surfaces are largely absent; matte and textured finishes take their place throughout the cabin, reducing fingerprints and maintaining a refined, low-maintenance look. New exterior-inspired interior colour choices tamarind brown and stone beige add to the range. Front seat occupants can opt for the available sports seat plus, which includes ventilation and massage functions.

The Q9 is offered in two seating configurations. The six-seat layout includes two electrically adjustable captain's chairs in the second row, oriented toward business-class comfort. The seven-seat layout fills the second row with three positions, all compatible with child safety seats a practical feature for families. Standard across both: partial power adjustment for all seats. Third-row access is simplified by an outer second-row seat that slides and tilts forward electrically without folding, so child seats installed there don't need to be removed first. Comfort entry can be activated through the MMI or a button near the rear door. Third-row seatbacks fold individually by electric control, allowing quick transitions between passenger and cargo configurations.

Doors & Entry Technology

The Q9's door system is new to the brand. All four doors open electrically via push-button from inside — a standard feature across the lineup. An available Smart Entrance system adds remote control through the myAudi app, the MMI, and the key fob. The driver can trigger door closing from inside by applying the brake or fastening the seatbelt. Surround sensors with obstacle detection prevent a door from swinging into insufficient clearance — helpful in the kind of busy parking structures common in downtown Winnipeg — and the system also identifies approaching cyclists or pedestrians to prevent inadvertent door openings. Maximum door opening angle is 90 degrees. The Bang & Olufsen premium 4D sound system is a notable upgrade from the previous generation's 3D system. Headrest speakers allow private audio — phone calls, navigation — without disturbing other occupants.

Interior & Cabin Technology

For the first time, actuators embedded in the front seats let the driver and passenger physically experience the music rather than just hear it. The dynamic interaction light (IAL), a full-width LED strip at the base of the windshield, responds to music through its "experiences" mode, matching colour output to the track's cover art. The Audi Digital Stage — the central dashboard display area — benefits from indirect lighting that creates a floating visual effect. The redesigned centre console houses two Qi2.2 magnetic wireless charging pads alongside USB-C Power Delivery ports capable of up to 100 watts, allowing simultaneous fast charging of two devices. In the cargo area, a new aluminum rail system uses sliding hooks and adjustable anchors to secure items in three dimensions, keeping the floor clear for larger pieces of luggage.
